Strawberry & Basil Cooler

Make a fun kid friendly summer drink for the family and when the kids begin to wrestle in the yard and follow you around asking for a million different snacks...add a little tequila to yours.

Ingredients:
Simple Syrup
1 cup water
1 cup sugar
10 basil leaves

Drink:
3 ounces of strawberry puree (strained)
1 ounce of lime juice
1/2 ounce of basil simple syrup
1 cup of ice
top with seltzer

Directions:
Simple Syrup- bring sugar and water to a boil.  Stir frequently until sugar is fully dissolved.  Add basil and allow to cool.  Once cool, strain and store in the refrigerator.  In a shaker, add 3 ounces of strained strawberry puree ( you can use fresh or frozen berries to make the puree), lime juice, ice, and simple syrup shake well and pour over ice.  Top with seltzer.
*If you are making this an adult beverage... add 1.5 ounces of tequila to the shaker
